~HIKAYAT MERONG MAHAWANGSA~(POST)

HIKAYAT MERONG MAHAWANGSA.....This film hit local cinema by 10 March 2011. This is the first Malaysian epic film and the story related to history of Malaya. This story begin in the year of 120, the Roman empire is under the reign of Hadrian while in China, Dynasty of Han was a powerful empire and has expanded its rule to the Central Asian countries. During the Roman forces are repairing their vessels in Goa, they ask for help from Merong Mahawangsa to accompany the Prince of Rome to Langkasuka to marry a beautiful princess of Han Dynasty from China. The piracy of Geruda decide to kidnap the Princess of China and make it as a hostage and attacked Merong mahawangsa and the fleet at the end of the irrigation straits of Malacca. Mahawangsa's ship was also attacked and making it harder for any rescue attempt. They traveled through many obstacles and eventually managed to defeat Geruda with cooperation from the armed forces of Rome and China. The two great civilizations from the East and West are successfully unite but sadly at the end of the story, Merong Mahawangsa sacrifices himself  in order to killed Taji, the head of Geruda.

What had I found through this film is various languages uses like English, Malay, Chinese and some Indian language but most of the film dialogue is monopoly by English language. I wondered why this film does not use the language according to the actual place? The actual place means the location in the story. In the story, the Chinese people ( Chinese princess, her maid and the chief of China) does not use fully Chinese language  in their conversation. For me, i feel a bit awkward when the Chinese princess and her maid speak in English all the time. However, when I read the information about this film at Wikipedia, i found out that the goal of this film been create for overseas film market. So, there is no surprise WHY the English language used in this film is about 70%.

The props and the costume used in this film is really awesome and it brings the audience back to the second century. The special effects used in this film (CGI) still can be proud even though cannot compete with the international epics film. Effects of an arrow piercing, a sword stab on the actor look alive and Merong character as a mighty king looks perfect. This is the additional factor that makes the movie interesting to watch. The film had a budget of RM8 million, of which RM2 million was spent on the sets, props and costume. There is no doubt that this film was the great action film compared to other Malaysian film before.

Some of the local classic writings most include Hikayat Hang Tuah, Hikayat Malim Deman and Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa. The purported founder of Langkasuka, one of the earliest Kingdoms established in the Malay peninsula. It’s set in the 2nd century. The two superpowers of the day (Roman Empire and Chinese Empire), decide to seal their political ties with a marriage their prince and princes.
When the fleet of Roman prince Marcus (Gavin Stenhouse) sinks, the party lands in Goa for help. Enlisting the aid of Merong Mahawangsa (Stephen Rahman-Hughes), Marcus continues on his journey to meet his Chinese bride halfway on the Malay Peninsula.
But there are pirates in these waters, known as Geruda and led by the seemingly invincible Taji(Wan Hanafi Wan Su) and Kamawas(Khir Rahman). The Gerudans attack both the Chinese and the Romans and kidnap Princess Li Hua(Jing Lu Si) to demand ransom from the Emperor of China.
Costing RM8 million, Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa is lavish and elaborate. The cast, comprising mostly stage actors both local and interntional, displays commendable acting prowess. Kudos to Stephen and special mention goes to khir.
The plot could have been better and the editing could have been tighter. The filmmakers should have reduced the length of the fights and not waste precious minute with the screen presence of the narrator.

Afraid of changes

Impossible? Difficult? Definitely the answer is not impossible.

But the change have two types of positive change or negative change.
And the question is,
Why to make a positive change is more difficult than changing to a negative change?
Is it because the poor themselves? Weak to resist the temptations of the devil?

"And verily, the devils that actually kept them from the truth and they think that they receive guidance" - Surah Az-Zukhruf 43: 37

"And do not ever deluded by Satan the devil is surely an open enemy" - Surah Az-Zukhruf 43: 62

Breathe deeply. Take time, think a moment.
Which is more we do it? Changing better or not?
Definitely better.
But we cannot deny that to make a change towards the good, must have obstacles, teasing, testing, and this is all conjecture.
Sometimes to change is full of whispers and rumors of human:
"Eh, why wear a veil now, not before that she was a minah rempit, this should soon!"
"Thank God, A God willing at first to change"

Let us fix in our minds, don’t be influenced by negative words, because we suppose that is affected by these words, difficult to move into a new environment, difficult heart to do it.
Believe me, we know ourselves better than others, and God more than we know ourselves.
Not everything is sweet to go to heaven, because God would insert a little test for us, to test myself.

"Do people think that they will be allowed only by saying," We believe, and they are not tested? " - Surah Al-Ankabut 29:2

What is the definition of change in us? Is it only in a physical or conscience? Which will come first?
Actually, which came first is not important, because the more important is the result.
If we think of physical changes such as the outer cover and the article is much easier, so do that first, then we train the heart one by one, if we feel that the heart is easier to train, train it first.
Because change is coming from a sincere heart.
Insya Allah.
Let's start with our move, because the door of repentance is always open.
People constantly need to change because of our faith up and down.
Do not let the way we decorated with laziness, delay and delay.

A Positive Thing

A Positive Thing That I’m Going To Do During The Mid Semester Break

The practice of pilgrimage to visit, are do practice today?

During the mid-semester holidays recently, many a feast or banquet held in the area where I live. I take this opportunity to visit the houses of relatives. In addition, long time ago I not felt dish at a feast.

The practice of pilgrimage to visit is a practice that is encouraged. This practice represents a starting point to further strengthen their brotherly relations.  Furthermore, we can know more closely with each other, exchange ideas, stories and any more. In the past, this practice is highly focused. That why their relationship is very close and cared with each other.

If we compare at now, this practice is increasingly abandoned. Each is busy with his own business until the neighbors are not known. When the relatives or neighbors held a feast at home mostly old people were attended. The children do not know where, maybe they be shy or would rather have no time for sitting at home watching television or hanging out at the shopping complex. That why of his own that were not known even see in the middle of the road.

So today's society, especially the younger generation to foster the spirit of pilgrimage, to visit. Parents need to be concerned about this matter for the relations are not broken that way. They need to educate children with the practice of pilgrimage-visiting. When relatives visit the house, the children should be brought together and introduced to each other.
The practice of pilgrimage to visit if adopted could provide pleasure for us to know more people and exchange stories with them. We cannot live in our’s, we need to hang out with people because someday we may need help from them.

Back to the beginning ~

Back to the beginning..

  • When we are still in standard one (primary school)
  • When we are seven back then.

This might looks cheap, but it cost about 50 cents (if i'm not mistaken) per book. Paper dolls are known among the girls. We used to dress up the dolls with various type of clothes. I think those who invented it are genius. It is cheap and enjoyable. We don't need an expensive stuffs like Barbie doll. Just a paper doll to play with. The costumes comes together with the shoes and accessories for the dolls.

We called it as KOKO JELLY. it is rounded in shape. During that time, KOKO JELLY are the most delicious chocolate before we get to know the existence of Cadbury. It is full of chocolaty taste. It cost about 20 cent. There are about 4 different colors (i think so, not sure about it) But till now i can still remember the taste.

This biscuit is one of my favorite biscuit. This biscuit looks like an ice-cream. The topping of the biscuit is looks like an-ice-cream. The topping contains many type of colors. The colors are usually pink, orange, white and green for the toppings.  The taste of the biscuit is sweet because of the topping. I love to eat this biscuit until now. I can't remember the price of this biscuit. I think it cost about 50 cents per gram?? not sure..

I'm not sure what they called this rope back then. This rope are made off rubber band, a combination of rubber band. To form this rope, it is needed to tighten up the rubber band. We used to play it as a jumping rope. It doesn't cost anything to play with it.

This chocolate is cost about 20cent per box. It does have the chocolaty taste. It has several type of colors. Blue,Pink and green boxes. The boxes are different but the taste and the content is the same. It looks like a small bed pillow and it is square in shape.

Ding Dang and JOJO are two boxes that sell toys together with the food. The food that contain in the boxes are usually a round chocolate wafer. Same as JOJO, the type of chocolate is the same with Ding Dang. The toys are different for every month. Sometimes they will give a small bike as a gift or sometimes they will give cartoons key-chain for a present in the box. Ding Dang cost about RM 1, while JOJO cost about RM 2 per boxes.

Brick game is the only device that looks like PSP. but it is different from PSP. The pictures are not in 3D shape. Plus we can only play with the brick. We have to coordinate the brick in order to get points. If i'm not mistaken this brick game cost about RM 20 per set. Battery is used in order to play it. It has four buttons to move the bricks whether to the left, right,up or down.

This eraser game are famous among the boys and girls. They used to collect eraser for each country. Every eraser represent different country. The game is played just like a football game or any war game. The will flipped the eraser to attack the enemy. They will consider as a winner once the eraser flipped onto the other eraser. This eraser only cost about 20 cent.

Do you guys know this??? Power Rangers. Every Sunday 6.00PM. There were five of them. Blue ranger, Yellow ranger, Pink ranger, Red ranger and Black ranger. Each colors represent different type of animals. (if i'm not mistake they are type of dinosaurs)  We will chant ' Go go power Rangers Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' every time they transformed into robots. Then after that the Green ranger joining the Power Rangers. Power Rangers were the best cartoons series ever. i used to have all their toys.

All these sweet memories will always remain in my heart. All those things are part of me. They  used to make me smile, play with me, accompany me  for more than 5 years. Without it, my life will be so much miserable. Thanks to all my toys, you have made me a better person now.
